Estevan Hernandez Vela, 59, the son of Marcelino and Carmen Hernandez Vela was born in Dallas November 28, 1949 He was a graduate of Sunset High School and worked for 16 years for the Flint Company as an Ink Developer.
He served with the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam war and died Saturday, July 4th at Dallas Methodist Medical Center following an extended illness.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 9th in the chapel of Calvary Hill Funeral Home from 12 noon until 9 p.m. Deacon Gonzalo Gonzales will lead the Rosary at 7 p.m. Cremation will follow with inurnment at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery on Tuesday, July 14th at 11:30 a.m.
Preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jaime, Estevan is survived by his wife, Geneva; by his daughters, Vanessa Kishi and Yvette Soliz both of Dallas; by a son DuShawn Perez of Dallas; four brothers, Marcelino Vela Jr. of DeSoto, Ernesto Vela and Pablin Vela both of Dallas and Eugene Vela of Grand Prairie; and by two sisters, Mary Vela of Duncanville and Madie Vela of Arizona.
As Estevan's life went on, he became a grandfather, Danelle (Shawn), August 2002, Steffany (Yvette), November 2005, Matthew (Shawn) January 2006 and Joshua (Shawn) in 2008. He loved his grandkids and made sure that they had everything they wanted. Holidays were his favorite times of the year because he would always have the whole family in funny glasses or hats. The best holiday he loved the most was the one that started it all, EASTER.
Estevan H. Vela was a beloved friend, brother, godfather, husband, father, grandfather and hero!
It started with a smile. It ended with a smile. Love you so much daddy. Cha-Cha
